Toddler Threading Can~ Homemade manipulative from jeans

Here is our "New Toddler Threading Can." I made it from recycled jeans and a formula can. Just small enough for small hands to start a belt or yarn, we used ribbons yesterday for Christmas time. The children love this activity. Im going to make a few more. I have three pairs of jeans to recycle. I wonder what all I can make with them? Stay tuned to see. What is the purpose of a threading can?

Hi, did you have to weight the cans to make move around less on the table? Also would you teach it where they can rotate the can as they thread the belt or have them learn to reach around the back and do by feeling?
